Conference of ethnic young people in inheriting and promoting traditional cultural values of Vietnamese family

(LVH) – In the morning of April 19, 2013, at Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, a conference of ethnic young people in inheriting and promoting traditional cultural values of Vietnamese family took place to celebrate Vietnamese ethnic Culture Festival dated April 19 and 15-year implementation of the 5th Central Resolution, VIII on building and developing advanced Vietnamese culture with special national identity and to welcome Vietnamese Family in 2013.

Attending the conference, there were Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Phan Van Mai, the Central Union Permanent Secretary, chairman of the Vietnam Youth Association; Mr. Nong Quoc Tuan, Deputy Chairman of Ethnic Committee; Ms. Tran Tuyet Anh, Head of Family Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the representatives of departments and ministries, central branches and localities, some experts, managers, scientists, ethnic culture researchers and particularly 80 young people representing 45 ethnic minorities to attend Vietnamese ethnic Culture Festival dated April 19 and Vietnam Family year in 2013.

Reporting the conference subject, Ms. Tran Tuyet Anh, Head of Family Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) mentioned three major issues: family and traditional cultural values of Vietnamese families, the role of Vietnamese families in the old time and currently and the responsibilities of ethnic young people in promoting traditional cultural values of Vietnamese families.

The discussions of a number of young delegates of ethnic groups participating in the seminar as well as a number of researchers have highlighted its reality and solutions for inheriting and promoting traditional cultural values of Vietnamese family, the majority of opinion was emphasized strengthening advocacy, propaganda for families to live civilization, culture, actively organizing cultural training for Communist Youth Union, organizing contests, etc and had many problems related to national culture in general and current family culture in particular mentioned, exchanged and discussed.
The cultural researcher, Prof. DSc. Dang Canh Khanh questioned and emphasized: for all nations, the family is very important, not just from Vietnam, educating a person is a critical, firstly in the family so how is promoting the role of family education today? etc.
Mr. Trieu Tai Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee Secretary said: Folklore, traditional belief, backward habits are problems set up for ethnic minority families. How does it do to promote the role of young people at ethnic groups in order to preserve the good cultural values and eliminate the backward habits, etc.
Delegate Po Po Me, Si La ethnic group Si La in Lai Chau expressed concerns how to change the status that men Si La ethnic group are usually addicted alcohol, not hard to work, not to till the fields and Si La women are always the main workers in the family.

Delegate Dang Thi Kim Nguyen, Cham ethnic group in Ninh Thuan Province proposed to require solutions to limit funeral which is usually held long, killing buffalo is costly, even become a burden for many difficult families.
Delegate Luong Thi Mai Huyen, Thai ethnic group in Nghe An stated up concerns before O Du compatriot, a ethnic minority in Tuong Duong district, near Thai compatriot living does not any voice, private handwriting and seems keep O Du people’s customs no longer. Delegate Huyen expressed to want all leadership levels to need have support measures, help O Du compatriot to restore their voice, handwriting and look back, save be the cultural values of O Du ethnic group.
Concur with the opinion of Associate. Prof. DSc. Nguyen Huu Minh, alcohol and beer abuse leads to family violence that makes women, children suffer its consequences, delegate Do Thi Huong, Phu La ethinic group in Sin Man, Ha Giang expressed, the delegate as well as many people who desire to have specific solution how for compatriot to be able to understand law, specially Family Marriage Law, anti-family violence, rather if it is merely propaganda such as some places at present, it is not yet effective.
Delegate Lo Thi Phuong, La Ha ethnic group in Son La petitioned that it is necessary to have policies so that La Ha ethnic group as well as many ethnic groups keeps been their own language because this delegate also expressed concern she is La Ha people but she does not know La Ha mother tongue, etc.
On the question of the young delegates, Prof. To Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of Vietnamese Folk Arts had answered quite clearly. In some cases, Prof. To Ngoc Thanh also shared additional viewpoint, as in the case of O Di ethnic group is just less than 1,000 people that a ethnic group is under 5,000 people, it is difficult to keep traditional culture because these ethnic groups are required to communicate, marry to other ethnic groups. Besides, the cultural traditions of O du ethnic group has buried much and nobody remembers anymore, restoring,

Mr. Hoang Duc Hau, Head of National Culture Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism) said that ethnic minorities should be the first ones responsible for preserving the culture and that's how to best-preserve, also the State and the various levels only invest, support for policies, etc.
Said the seminar conclusion, Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan emphasized "the responsibility to preserve, conserve and promote the national cultural values in general and the traditional values in particular are cooperated by both sides. On side is the state agencies, scientists, and professionals and another side is ethnic community”.
Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan also proposed: the ethnic youth delegates continue to think, to exchange, discuss with their families, ethnic communities in their locals, more actively act to contribute to protecting, preserving and promoting the national cultural values, cultural and traditional values of Vietnamese families
