 The seminar of promoting the role of prestigious people in the community of Vietnam ethnic groups

(LVH) - In the morning of 19th November 2013, at the Public House of Village (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi) occurred the “Promoting the role of prestigious people in the community of Vietnam ethnic groups” Seminar in respect of building, strengthening the great national solidarity” with the participation of more than 120 representatives. Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ms. Ha Thi Lien, the Vice president of Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee chaired the Seminar.

In the framework of the “Great National Solidarity - Vietnam Cultural Heritage”, the Seminar held by Standing Board of Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with participation of Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Central Steering Boards of the Movement "the Whole people unify to build the civilized life", Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of locality (From Thua Thien Hue), excellent individuals have prestige in the communities etc.

 

The view of Seminar

Giving speech at the Seminar, Ms. Ha Thi Lien confirmed that “the prestigious people in the minority ethnic groups are the core force and the important bridge between provincial level and government and have great contribution to the movement and propagate people to comply with the guidance and policy of State and Party etc”.

Highly appreciate the role of the prestigious people in the ethnic community in many fields, especially in the culture field, Ms Ha Thi Lien emphasized that “in the field of culture, the prestigious people play an important role in preserving and promoting the cultural identity in every region of the country”. Especially, in the difficult and remote regions, the prestigious people play the core role to be exemplary and actively propagate family and community to participate and protect the national cultural value; guide people to delete the backward customs and superstition vices contrary to the good traditions and customs of nation etc.
At the seminar, most of participants affirmed and emphasized the position and role of prestigious people in the ethnic communities, especially in the current ethnic minorities. Participants also suggested the contents most of which are the research problem appropriate with policy for each group and the issue of funding for their activities etc.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Son, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province said that the position and role of the village elders and village chiefs were very important. By their knowledge, exemplary, they were prestigious in their ethnic communities in the propagation of the policies and laws of the Party and State. He also proposed to provide additional information for the village elders through books, newspapers, funding so that they found it more favorable in community activities etc.
Mr. Ban Xuan Trieu, Dao ethnic group, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Tuyen Quang province affirmed that for Dao ethnic communities in Tuyen Quang, village elders and the shaman were reputable. They were very exemplary in the family life so they mobilized family, fellows to delete obsolete customs etc. He suggested that it was necessary to study and give out the sound policy for prestigious people to mobilize otherwise the people would not listen and the policy should be simple, understandable and practical etc.
Mr. Pham Van Nien, the representative of San Diu people in Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province shared the experiences at the locality such as mobilizing people to apply new lifestyle in funeral, not to lengthen the ceremony time. He suggested that the visits with the village elders and village chiefs in that community of ethnic minorities should be organized to catch new points and propagate people about the general guidelines and policies of Party and State etc.

Being the prestigious person in his community, Mr. Sung Seo Di from Hmong ethnic group in Lao Cai shared his achievements and experiences in campaigning people at this locality to accept policies of the Party and State, work hard and raise livestock etc; campaigning the marriage in compliance with the marriage law in which women aged 18 upward and men aged 20 upward were allowed to get married. In addition, he also exercised that Hmong people should not listen to bad people to urge the establishment of Hmong kingdom for Hmong people etc.
In conclusion of Seminar, Ms. Ha Thi Lien affirmed that Party and State highly appreciated the role of the representative in the minority communities in the national construction and defense, especially in building the block of national solidarity. In the new conditions, the role of prestigious people should continue to be promoted in mobilizing people to develop economy and reduce poverty for the sustainable economic development as well as preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups, the prevention of social evils, superstition eradication, prevention of crime and drugs etc. Especially, it should focus on building the cultural family and cultural resident area, village, hamlet within each ethnic group. He also believed and suggested that the representatives at all levels continued to advise the Party committees, governments, Front at localities and central level, in particular, the prestigious representatives in the ethnic communities promoted their activities at localities to build villages by their knowledge and experiences more prosperous and civilized.
